Every draft deserves a careful, generous second read.
One-to-one editorial consultation for writers, researchers and teams — close reading, honest feedback and a clear plan for your next revision, delivered in plain language.
Six ways an editor’s eye can move your draft forward
Pick a single session or build a longer working relationship — every consultation starts from where your writing actually is.
Manuscript assessment
A big-picture written report on structure, pacing, voice and market readiness — the honest overview before you invest in a full edit.
Written report, 7–10 daysDevelopmental consultation
A focused working session to reshape narrative arc, argument structure or chapter order — with options sketched live, not dictated after the fact.
60-minute working callLine & language review
Sentence-level guidance on clarity, rhythm and tone. You learn why a line stumbles and how to fix the next twenty like it yourself.
Annotated sample + callPublication strategy
Where to submit, realistic timelines, agent shortlists, and when self-publishing is the stronger path — a route map for your specific book.
Target list includedThesis & academic support
Argument structure, journal fit, abstracts and response-to-reviewers coaching — feedback that respects your discipline’s conventions.
Graduate-friendly ratesQuery & proposal review
Query letters, synopses and non-fiction book proposals that hold an agent’s attention past the first paragraph.
Up to two revisionsA calm, predictable path from first draft to next draft
Send your pages
Share your draft with a short note about your goals, your deadline and what already worries you about the text.
Close reading
I read the way an acquisitions editor does — marking patterns, questions and possibilities directly in the margins.
The consultation
A relaxed 60-minute video call. We talk through the notes, weigh options together and decide what your revision should tackle first.
Written roadmap
Within 48 hours you receive a prioritised action plan in writing — so nothing said on the call ever evaporates.
Honest criticism, delivered like a good editor would
Critique that teaches
Every note explains the reasoning behind it, so each consultation makes you a stronger self-editor for the next piece — not dependent on the next session.
Strictly confidential
Unpublished work is never shared, used as a sample without permission, or read by anyone else. Your ideas stay yours, in writing and in practice.
No insider jargon
Publishing can feel like a closed room. Notes and calls use plain language — industry terms are explained the first time they appear, never wielded.

Before you book
Do you edit my document directly?
Consultation is built around annotated notes and a working call — you keep full creative control and make every change yourself. Hands-on line or copy editing is available as an add-on if you would prefer the changes drafted for you.
Which genres and fields do you work with?
Literary and commercial fiction, memoir, narrative non-fiction, poetry collections, academic and scientific writing, and business thought-leadership. Highly technical or specialist texts are matched case by case — just ask in the intro chat.
How does each session take place?
Sessions run over video call with screen-shared notes, and a written summary follows within 48 hours. If writing feels easier than talking, an asynchronous text-only consultation is available at the same rate.
I have never shown my writing to anyone. Is that okay?
Completely. Most first sessions begin with unfinished, unpolished work, and that is exactly the right stage to consult. The free 15-minute intro exists so you can decide whether the fit feels safe before sharing a single page.
What is the usual turnaround?
A First Read is returned within five working days; a Full Consultation is scheduled within ten. Mentorship clients receive priority scheduling, usually within three days.
Ready for your second read?
Send a few pages and what you hope they’ll become. The intro conversation is free, carries no obligation, and usually ends with at least one idea you can use today.
